Dr. Gamze Erdem Türkelli

Principal Investigator

Dr. Gamze Erdem Türkelli is an Associate Research Professor at the Law & Development Research Group, Faculty of Law at the University of Antwerp. Her work is situated in the interface of international law, human rights law and sustainable development. She conducts research into transnational human rights obligations (including business and human rights), hybrid public-private actors in international law such as multistakeholder partnerships, ‘innovative’ development financing, children’s rights as well as accountability and responsibility. 

She is the Principal Investigator of GENESIS.

Yasmin Moselhy

Yasmin Moselhy

PhD Researcher - Work Package 2

Yasmin Mosellhy is an Egyptian qualified lawyer and Doctoral Scholarship Holder at the Law & Development Research Group of the University of Antwerp, where she explores the intersection of Multistakeholder Partnerships for public goods delivery and International Human Rights Law. She holds an LL.M. from the University of Cambridge and a Bachelor of Laws from German University in Cairo. Her PhD research is focused on Work Package 2 of the GENESIS Project, under the supervision of Dr. Gamze Erdem Türkelli.

João Felipe Oliveira Fernandes

João Felipe Oliveira Fernandes

PhD Researcher - Work Package 3

João Felipe Fernandes is a Brazilian-qualified lawyer and Doctoral Scholarship Holder at the University of Antwerp’s Law & Development Research Group. His research examines how Multistakeholder Partnerships working on the delivery of public goods impact the operationalization of human rights. He holds a Master’s degree in Public International Law from the University of Amsterdam (Cum Laude) and a Bachelor of Laws from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro.

With experience across private and public sectors, he has worked with NGOs, civil society, businesses, and state entities in the fields of human rights, project management, sustainable development, and environmental law.

María Alejandra Bermúdez

María Alejandra Bermúdez

PhD Researcher - Work Package 4

María Alejandra Bermúdez is an international relations and human rights specialist, with a Master’s degree in International Governance and Diplomacy, graduated Summa Cum Laude from SciencesPo Paris. She also holds a Bachelor’s in International Relations from Universidad del Rosario in Bogotá, Colombia, and a Specialization Degree in International Human Rights Law and International Humanitarian Law. At Universidad del Rosario, María Alejandra contributed as a teaching assistant in different courses, focusing on qualitative research methods and project development.

She has worked at the International Organization for Migrations (IOM), at the Presidency of Colombia in the Human Rights and International Affairs Council, and at coalition Business for Inclusive Growth (B4IG) in Paris, in partnership with the OECD. Her work has focused on policy-making and implementation, project management, human rights, and sustainable development strategies. Fluent in Spanish, English, French, and Italian, María combines her academic and professional experience to tackle complex multidisciplinary challenges.
